
Yunping Liu
Biography
Yunping Liu, a Ph.D. candidate at CIRSFID - ALMA AI since November 2023, is enrolled in a joint doctorate program offered by the University of Bologna and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). She researches space law and data protection for the Chinese Space Station, drawing insights from European practices. She aims to advance China's space law field, enhancing Sino-European collaboration in space initiatives.
With a legal background from Xiangtan University, Yunping holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Law. Her previous research includes topics such as ‘European aerospace technology control,’ ‘commercialization systems of aerospace enterprises,’ ‘trade control of aerospace products,’ ‘international cooperation and legal issues on data for the Chinese Space Station,’ ‘development and utilization of outer space resources,’ ‘construction of international standards for global satellite navigation,’ and ‘governance of large-scale constellations in low orbit.’ Her research broadly focuses on the legal and ethical aspects of outer space, contributing to the establishment of a global, cooperative, and sustainable legal framework.
Currently, Yunping is conducting research on legal semantic web technology and reforms in Chinese legislative information systems.
