Biography
Nishat's research focuses on the intersections of law, ethics and technology in society. Her expertise is in the domains of medical law and bioethics, and family law. She is particularly interested in policy and regulatory approaches to current and future technologies, from government-led to self-regulatory measures, at both a national and international level.
Nishat's research focuses on families, from formation to dissolution. Her current independent research explores the legal and ethical aspects of the creation and regulation of family relations in the context of assisted reproductive technologies. At the same time, as post-doctoral researcher on the CREA2 project, she is exploring how technology - namely, AI and algorithms - can assist in dissolving family relations, and how these novel solutions will impact and interact with the pre-existing regulatory landscape.
