The DIKE Research Group is proud to announce its participation in the upcoming international conference "Technology and (Dis)Trust: AI between Confidence and Controversy", the fourth edition of the IE Lawtomation Days, a flagship initiative renowned for its high-quality contributions and vibrant intellectual exchange.
DIKE will contribute to the panel "Advancing Predictive Justice in Family and Labour Law”, featuring:
- Carlotta Manz (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) – Unpacking the Legal Dilemmas of Predictive Justice in Family and Labour Law
- Andrea Filippo Ferraris (University of Bologna; Vrije Universiteit Brussel) – Insights from the Frontlines: Empirical Findings on Predictive Justice in Family Law
- Flora Amato (University Federico II of Naples) – AI in Family Law: Enabling Parties with an Active Calculation in Inheritance, Divorce, and Separation
- Marianna Molinari (University of Bologna; University of Turin; Vrije Universiteit Brussel) – Embracing Innovation or Resisting Change: Real-World Data on Predictive Justice in Labour Law
- Mattia Fonisto (University Federico II of Naples) – AI in Labour Law: Empowering Workers with a Chatbot to Choose Between Legal Action and ADR
The panel will be led by Prof. Marco Giacalone (Vrije Universiteit Brussel). Together, the speakers will address the challenges and opportunities of predictive justice, particularly in sensitive areas such as family and labour law, where algorithmic decision-making intersects with fundamental rights, fairness, and social trust.
The conference as a whole interrogates how technology shifts the legal landscape—from retrospective justice to preemptive control, from deliberation to optimization, and from state power to private influence. It asks pressing questions: How can legal frameworks sustain trust in AI-driven governance? Can law alone build confidence in digital ecosystems, or must ethics, corporate responsibility, and technical safeguards play a greater role?
Over two days, participants will engage with keynote speeches, panel debates, and cross-disciplinary discussions, in a collegial and dynamic environment that has become the hallmark of the Lawtomation Days.
