Ashwinee Kumar
Biografie
Ashwinee is a doctoral researcher at Vrije University Brussels since 2019 and is currently associated with "Law, Science, Technology and Society" (VUB-LSTS) research group of the Faculty of Law and Criminology. His research trajectory includes the EU Data Protection Regime and the implications of Regulatory Technologies & Artificial Intelligence on the regime, especially the GDPR. Ashwinee is currently developing a methodology for performing Data Protection & Ethical Impact Assessments of Unmanned/Autonomous Vehicles and Blockchain-based Platforms used by LEAs. He likes to debate and research on the trilogy of ‘Data Minimisation, Accuracy, and Purpose Limitation’ principles of the GDPR.
Ashwinee has been associated with a number of EU-funded projects like ALADDIN (Advance hoListic Adverse Drone Detection, Identification, and Neutralization) and ARC (Awareness Raising Campaign for SMEs about GDPR), FASTER (First responder Advanced technologies for Safe and efficient Emergency Response), LOCARD (Lawful evidence collecting and continuity platform development), and INTREPID (Intelligent Toolkit for Reconnaissance and assessmEnt in Perilous Incidents).
Before joining VUB, he earned LL.M in European and Transnational Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law in 2018 from the University of Göttingen, Germany, with the distinction “Sehr Gut”. He has obtained Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Delhi & Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering from India. He practiced law very briefly in the field of Arbitration, Conciliation, and Mediation in India.
Besides this, Ashwinee likes Religious Theology, Political Philosophy & History, and early Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh).
