Today, Prof. Dr. Marco Giacalone participated in the workshop "Law, Technology, and Society in the Age of Ethical and Multi-Agent AI," held in Krakow. He contributed to the panel titled "AI + Justice," where he shared his insights on the intersection of artificial intelligence and the justice system.
Prof. Giacalone's speech focused on how AI technologies are transforming judicial processes and the administration of justice. He addressed the ethical and legal challenges posed by the integration of AI in decision-making processes within the legal system, including concerns about transparency, fairness, and accountability.
During the panel, he highlighted the potential of AI to improve efficiency in the courts, enhance access to justice, and streamline legal research. However, he also emphasized the importance of maintaining ethical standards to prevent biases in AI algorithms and ensure that AI tools complement rather than replace human judgment in the justice system.
The workshop brought together legal scholars, AI researchers, and policymakers to discuss the ethical implications of AI's role in society, particularly in relation to justice and legal systems. Prof. Giacalone's contributions helped deepen the conversation around the responsible use of AI in the justice sector, advocating for a balanced approach that leverages technology while upholding fundamental legal and ethical principles.
