Dr. Nishat Hyder-Rahman attended the JAR Association Inaugural Conference on Innovation in Judicial Systems: Human, Cuber and Beyond, from 25-26 May 2023 held at Roma Tre University. She was invited, together with Dr. Alina Ontanu of Tilburg University, and Dr. Rosanna Amato and Marco Velicogna of the Institute of Legal Informatics and Judicial Systems (National Research Centre of Italy) as a panellist for the session entitled, Testing the limits of justice in cross-border settings: a legal, organisation, and technical perspective into digital developments.
The panel reflected on the intersection of organisational, legal and technological tools that can enhance and create trust and cooperation in court and out-of-court procedures, as well as between the two.
Nishat's contribution in particular focussed on the current and future use of AI tools in family law, drawing on examples from around the world, including VUB's ongoing Horizon Europe project, CREA2.
