Today, PhD student Francesca Valastro chaired the session “Digital Family Law” at the International Society of Family Law – 18 th (Golden Jubilee) World Conference in Antwerp.
As the Chair of the session, Francesca moderated a panel of distinguished academics, including Prof. dr Elisabeth Alofs and dr. Nishat Hyder-Rahman from VUB, dr. Roni Liberson from Tel Aviv University, dr. Elena Falletti from Universitá Carlo Cattaneo, dr. Sara Rigazio from Palermo University and Prof Naivi Chikoc Barreda, University of Ottawa.
The enriching presentations discussed about the challenges and opportunities that innovative technologies and above all, Artificial Intelligence, place for the practice of family law.
The discussion tackled a vast array of family law issues, ranging from a general overview of the use-case for AI in family law disputes and domestic violence cases to the intricate balance between the right to succession and the right to privacy, and even delving into the implications of online marriages and divorces from a cross-border perspective in private international law.
