Dr. Gioia Arnone
Biography
Gioia Arnone gained a Master's Degree in Law at the University of Palermo and then obtained the Postgraduate Specialization Diploma in Legal Professions. After the completion of a forensic traineeship on civil and criminal law, she collaborated with the Public Prosecutors Office of the Court of Palermo and then with a Notary Public.
Enrolled in the Bar Council of Palermo, she is the Co-founder Lawyer of the International Law Firm Arnone&Sicomo.
Over the years she developed a specific expertise on Criminal Law, Immigration Law, Family Law as well as on Real Estate and Tax Law, also providing advice to local Start-ups and SMEs on Microfinance and Internationalization.
Gioia attended the PhD course in "Entrepreneurship and Innovation" at the Department of Managerial and Quantitative Studies (DISAQ) of the University of Naples "Parthenope" (Italy) and obtained a joint double PhD in "Law" at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (Belgium) as a member of the DIKE Research Group - Department of Private and Economic Law (PREC), where she deepened issues related to the development of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
Her fields of research are Fintech and Digitalization of Justice, focusing specifically on blockchain applications and cryptocurrencies implications in both Economics and Law.
Currently, she is a Research Fellow at the University of Palermo - Department of Political Sciences, to study the phenomenon of the use of cryptocurrencies by criminal organizations (namely, Mafia), focusing on the financial and legal aspect of such a phenomenon.
Italian native speaker, Gioia speaks fluent English.
